Kingsman: A Moore Era Bond for the Modern Day

kingsman-the-secret-service-images-hdIt’s a telling sign that when browsing for a movie to watch this evening, as soon as Matthew Vaughn’s name came up, I had to watch Kingsman. And it didn’t disappoint.

Kingsman: The Secret Service is about a British organisation of spies that have been making the world safe in the background for a hundred years. After a man in the service dies protecting Harry (Played flawlessly by Colin Firth), Harry vows to do right by the family he left behind.

The young son, Eggsy, grows up to be a troublemaker on the local council estate. When he gets in trouble with the police, he calls on Harry to help him and Harry decides to recruit him into the Kingsman.

The style of the movie is what sets it apart from so many other action movies these days. Vaughn creates action scenes that I’m sure are going to be copied in films to come. The standout being a scene with Colin Firth which I won’t spoil by giving any details, but you’ll know it when you see it.

Taron Egerton is fantastic in the lead role as Eggsy, giving the character a real charisma and charm. The supporting cast are similarly impeccable. Samuel L Jackson’s lisp is a little odd, but not enough to get in the way of the movie.

Overall, Kingsman is one of the best movies I’ve seen this year. I give it 5/5 stars and highly recommend you check it out.
