Mixtape for week 17, 2013

Mixtape for week 17, 2013

Here’s my top ten for this week:

  1. The Strokes – Reptilia

Rock. Okay, so it’s old and overplayed, but it’s difficult to deny the genius of this song.

  1. Clogs – A Hobson’s Choice

Acoustic. A nice acoustic song, with catchy, rhythmic guitar backing.

  1. Ólafur Arnalds – Sudden Throw

Classical/Instrumental. A relaxing tune, great to work to.

  1. Grizzly Bear – Sleeping Ute

Slow rock. A soulful song.

  1. Ratatat – Tropicana

Electronic/Instrumental. A catchy instrumental tune.

  1. Major Lazer – Bubble Butt [feat. Bruno Mars, Tyga & Mystic]

Dance. I normally don’t like Bruno Mars, but this song is too catchy to resist.

  1. Lil Wayne – Rich As Fuck

Hip-hop. Not for the faint of heart.

  1. Daft Punk – The Grid (Remixed By The Crystal Method)

Electronic. I wasn’t a fan of the new Daft Punk single this week, so instead, here’s something a bit more my thing.

  1. Arcade Fire – The Suburbs

Slow rock. A very addictive song. I don’t like all of Arcade Fire’s songs, but the occasional one can strike me the right way.

  1. Håkan Hellström – Det kommer aldrig va över för mig

Slow rock. A Swedish song to round out the week. For me, at least, understanding the lyrics comes second to a catchy tune.

Get Into The Action

For a limited time, I'm giving away the first two books in the Bytarend Fantasy series and the Hard Vacuum science fiction series for free.

Bytarend is fast, fun fantasy that'll have you on the edge of your seat. Hard Vacuum is hard-talking, violent science fiction and my tribute to 80s action movies.
