This week I have been obsessed with Die Antwoord, a South African rap-rave group. They are weird, rap often in Afrikaans and are just explosive in their songs. I can’t get enough at the moment. Here is the best of Die Antwoord, along with everything else I’ve been listening to this week:
This is one of few songs where I think you should check out the video: http://youtu.be/AIXUgtNC4Kc
The costumes, makeup and just relentless action of the video are compelling to watch. The song is excellent too.
Info: Features outstanding rapping by Ninja and Yo-Landi.
Info: The song that introduced me to the band. I heard about it through “The Bug”, an Adam Buxton comedy program. I heard his description of the video and had to check it out.
Info: A left turn into more traditional hip-hop. I really like this song by Pusha T, which has a dark, creeping quality to it.
Info: An old classic, but I heard my son quoting some of the lyrics during the week and had to relisten to it. He didn’t know the source of the words he was saying, so I played it for him.
Info: It starts as very generic Euro-dance, but after about thirty seconds breaks into a nice, dirty bass beat.
Info: This song is just beautiful. It takes a little while to look past Oh Land’s strong Danish accent, but this song is delicate and wonderfully put together.
Info: A nice throwback to electronic music of the past. It reminds me a little of the older Chemical Brothers / Air stuff.
Info: A more conventional dance track, but it has a terrific sound to it.
Info: A slow, sleepy indie song.
Get Into The Action

Bytarend is fast, fun fantasy that'll have you on the edge of your seat. Hard Vacuum is hard-talking, violent science fiction and my tribute to 80s action movies.
