Mixtape for week 22, 2013

It’s been another slow week for music, but I’ve done some digging and found some real gems:

The Pierces – Glorious

Genre: Soft rock

A very catchy, uplifting soft rock song. There’s a lot of god blessings in the song, but I’ll forgive them because it’s just such a happy song.

Fake Blood – Fix Your Accent

Genre: Dance

Info: Straddling the Dance/Electronic genres, this tune is another one that will put you in a good mood.

Woodkid – Run Boy Run

Genre: Indie

Info: An unusually full song, with orchestral backing and a distinctive vocal.

Abba – Waterloo – English Version

Genre: Pop

Info: A song from a little known Swedish band. We listened to this during the week, and my two year old song couldn’t stop dancing. Catchy as it ever was.

Propellerheads – Bang On !

Genre: Dance

Info: I’ve been waiting for this song to get added to Spotify for a while. A driving, unrelenting dance song. It’s also worth checking out the video.

The Black Keys – I’ll Be Your Man

Genre: Rock

Info: A raw, bluesy sound from this track.

Tom Waits – Way Down in the Hole

Genre: Rock

Info: I’m almost done with The Wire. This track popped up in my list, and I had to include it. I do add the sounds from the credit sequence in my own head, though.

Amy Winehouse – You Know I’m No Good

Genre: Soul

Info: A never quite liked Amy Winehouse stuff before, but this song has grown on me.

Vitalic – Poison Lips

Genre: Electronic

Info: Has a bit of an eighties vibe to it. A trance electronic song that reminds me a little of Kraftwerk.

Boys Noize – XTC

Genre: Electronic

Info: You can’t go wrong with some Boys Noize to close out a list. I’ve been checking out their new stuff this week and enjoying it.
