Mixtape for week 24, 2013

A week hampered by Spotify’s new interface where they’ve taken away new releases and replaced it with a recommended section, which has made finding new songs a lot harder:

Schoolboy Q – There He Go

Genre: Hip-hop

Info: Reminds me a lot of Tinie Tempah, with the same tripping, skipping backbeat and fun rapping on the top of it.

Schoolboy Q – Sexting

Genre: Hip-hop

Info: A second track from Schoolboy Q with a decidedly different feel to it. Cleaving closer to a gangsta rap, but with enough lightness to it to keep it afloat.

The Breeders – No Aloha

Genre: Indie

Info: An older indie song from The Breeders, but I just can’t stop listening to this.

Shiny Toy Guns – Rainy Monday – Hervé Remix

Genre: Electronic

Info: Wagga-wogga-wagga-wogga, it’s tough not to bob your head while listening to this tune.

Peaches – I Feel Cream

Genre: Electronic

Info: I thought I’d gone through every song Peaches made, but then this week I found this. Nice vocals and a catchy backbeat.

Krista Polvere – Bluebird

Genre: Acoustic

Info: I found this while looking for the Wings song and loved the blue, beautiful sound of it.

Dido – Quiet Times – Acoustic

Genre: Acoustic

Info: A nice continuation of the mood started by Krista Polvere.

Shiny Toy Guns – Ricochet! – Nadastrom Digital Foot Stomp Remix

Genre: Electronic

Info: Another from the brilliant Shiny Toy Guns with a stomping, nasty backbeat.

Shiny Toy Guns – Le Disko – Boys Noize Vocal Mix

Genre: Electronic

Info: And the song that got me listening to the album.

The Chemical Brothers – Elektrobank

Genre: Electronic

Info: I ran out of new songs this week worth putting on this list. So here’s one that never gets old from The Chemical Brothers.

Get Into The Action

For a limited time, I'm giving away the first two books in the Bytarend Fantasy series and the Hard Vacuum science fiction series for free.

Bytarend is fast, fun fantasy that'll have you on the edge of your seat. Hard Vacuum is hard-talking, violent science fiction and my tribute to 80s action movies.
