Thoughts on the «John dies at the end» movie

Warning: Spoilers for “John dies at the end”

Last night we watched the movie, “John dies at the end”. It’s an exceptionally weird movie that doesn’t seem to worry much about plot and consistency. The film opens a lot of plotlines, never to close or refer back to them again. It seems to be more of a highlights reel of moments from the book. Not that I’ve read the book yet. It’s on my list of books to read, but that list is fifty books long.

This movie may well move it up the list, however, as it offers glimpses of true comic brilliance. The movie is very funny, if you can ignore the growing confusion from the rapidly hopping plot.

I think this is a movie that will greatly divide audiences. If you don’t enjoy the shotgun scattered humour of it all, I can see the film being very tiresome, however we laughed the whole way through.

I’m not sure if it’s a joke, but John dies halfway through and not at the end. He’s then resurrected. It’s possible he dies at the end of the book and they just didn’t get that far in the film.

Overall, though, I’d recommend the film. It’s funny and engaging. I can just see it leading to a lot of book sales as people try to figure out what the heck is going on.
